The characters are rich, the dialogue is pure Texas-speak and there is a sense of really "being there" in mundane moments of compassion.

The theme of love trumps all and makes the story have a lot of life in the midst of tragedy.

Fort Worth is a great city full of relationships and acceptance and compassion and a spirit of quality in the make up of its culture. It is fun to have the essence of place be valuable to the story.

Compelling, gut wrenching, life with the hardest choices. One hopes to never be in this position, but the realization it can happen to anybody. Characters are nicely written and developed. What would you do? How will you react?
This book was a heartbreaker. I cried with the father most of the way through the book. I can't say I liked the ending but I was not devastated by it. This is a good human interest story and I recommend for anyone who likes this kind of book.
This is a very emotional, sad and wonderful book. The ability to let you feel the emotions of the characters is probably the best I have ever read. I was hooked from the beginning and never once felt like skimming or skipping a page. Thank you so much for writing it.
Knowing the author, and growing up in Fort Worth did make this book especially intriguing to me. However, it also made me more of a critic. But Rich Haddaway delivers a believable yet heart rending tale of emotional intensity that reels you in, surprises, and then leaves the reader thinking of the value of special moments, and what really counts in life . . . a collection of memories, a little something.
The book was an ok read. The story could have been a bit better. It really seemed to go on and on. I guess what I didn't care for was the amount of time and detail that went into telling each character's story. There were many such character stories within the book. I thought I was going to read more about the main character, Justin. Justin's story kind of got lost in the lengthy accounts of all the others.
I would have given it 5 stars if it didn't keep jumping between the present and past memories. It got very confusing for me to read and every time it jumps to a memory in the past I would just skip it, as some weren't related to the story of the present time.

Other than that it is a good book and an experience that no parents would Ever want to experience as I know it's the most painful experience ever, a process of losing your own child, watching him die.
After reading crime novels I was looking for something uplifting. This is what happens when I look at the name and picture on the book and not read what it's about. Very sad ending but a good read. Seen a few typos in the book but nothing I couldn't get past. Very happy to see the medical parts were accurate. Being a nurse for 20 years I can't help but criticize when something medical is wrong.
